NERA Welcomes You Aboard! PDF Print E-mail

USS Chief MCM-14 The Naval Enlisted Reserve Association - NERA - is the only military and veterans organization representing the ENLISTED RESERVIST members of the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard.  We include retirees, Full-Time Support (FTS), drilling reservists and others joining as associate members supporting our enlisted sea service reservists.

In more than 50 years, NERA has been responsible for many of the pay and benefits gains reservists enjoy today and take for granted.

Why NERA?  Today, more than at any other time, Reserve Enlisted members are called upon more often to mobilize frequently to serve our nation.  The challenges are many - strain on families, strain on civilian careers and an operational tempo for even "normal" reserve duties that exceed the conditions of less than 10 years ago.

Strength in numbers.  NERA has been there on Capitol Hill, in the Pentagon and other policy making levels working hard for legislation to protect your benefits, your family, your health care and your retirement.

Join us and ensure your voice is added to the many.  Join us to continue the success and the fight to keep your benefits strong.  We are your shipmates - your fellow veterans.  NERA is about you - the working Sailor, Marine and Coast Guardsman.

Friends and family,
I want to take a second to thank each and every one of you for your support throughout the induction process leading up to my Chief's pinning.

Included are a few photos from the ceremony held September 20th in the hangar of  the VR-57 Conquistadors aboard Naval Air Station North Island in Coronado, California.

The pride I felt upon becoming a Genuine Navy Chief was incredibly immense, and  I can tell you that I now walk a little taller and step a little prouder
everywhere I go. I realize that the privilege of wearing these anchors brings
with it a great responsibility to take care of my enlisted Sailors and train the
junior officers, and I will do my utmost to carry on the honorable tradition
initiated by all of the Navy Chiefs that have come before me
